Miscellaneous papers (mostly photocopies and reprints), annotated publications and ephemera from the 5,000 volume personal library of Dr. Pratapaditya Pal. The subject matter includes the history of art in India, Nepal, Tibet, southeast Asia, and the Islamic world. Includes both color and black-and-white photographs. Also includes Dr. Pal's dissertation for his doctorate degree from the University of Cambridge (Corpus Christi College): Studies in the Sculpture and Painting of Nepal, June, 1965 (volume 1, text and volume 2, illustrations in box 8). The illustrations in volume 2 include a large number of black-and-white photographs.

Dr. Pratapaditya Pal was born in 1935 and was senior curator of Indian and South-East Asian art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from 1970 to 1995. He received his Ph.D. from Cambridge University and worked as the Keeper of Indian Collections at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
